Allie’s Winter Camp Fun!

It may have been short, but this year’s Allie’s Winter Camp was especially sweet – not to mention very active as organizers put a lot into the two-day festivities.

Friendship Circle participants, siblings and their friends enjoyed getting to know each other, seeing old friends and jumping, running, climbing and more during their Wednesday morning trip to Diamond Gymnastics. After a pizza lunch, it was on to the bowling at the Eagle Rock Lanes, where everyone tried their hands at scoring the perfect strike.

Thursday found the campers enjoying games and rides at the indoor amusement center Funplex, before going to Destination Jump for even more tumbling fun.

For 5-year-old Hannah, who attended a traditional camp last summer, Allie’s Camp was especially meaningful because she was at camp with her twin brother, Benjy, who has special needs.

Giving all children the excitement of a camp experience is at the heart of the Allie’s Camp, and it something the teen volunteer counselors strive to impart. As Hannah’s counselor, Eliza, 13, said: “I really like hanging out with all the kids, plus Hannah’s awesome. It’s also really nice thing to do, and camp’s awesome. You feel really fulfilled at the end of the day.”
