A Festive Sukkot at LifeTown
This Sukkot, a new addition adorned the outside of LifeTown – a beautiful, extra-large Sukkah buzzing with holiday spirit! Under its natural roof, Friendship Circle brought the community together to celebrate the joyous festival with a variety of inclusive and fun-filled holiday programming.
On Sunday, October 20, guests flocked to the LifeTown Sukkah to attend two very special events. The weather was crisp and picture perfect as families laughed and enjoyed the Breakfast and Bubble show in the morning. In the evening, Friendship Circle President Club volunteers dined on a delicious sushi dinner in the Sukkah and played a fun Sukkah game. The night was made even more special when each teen pledged a mitzvah to honor the first yahrzeit of October 7.
The following morning, the fun continued as the sun beamed through LifeTown’s Sukkah. Friendship Circle hosted a Mom’s Breakfast and served an impressive spread of bagels, salad, quiche, fruit, and cheesecake. As is customary on Sukkot, the women said blessings and shook the lulav and etrog. Then, special guest, Sara Tanz, a dance instructor, led a movement activity designed to uplift the spirit. The morning was incredibly inspiring and unforgettable.
Finally, on Tuesday, October 22, Friendship Circle’s young adults with special needs who participate in the 21+ program feasted on a beautiful dinner in the Sukkah. Everyone made blessings, socialized, and enjoyed savory Chinese food. They were joined by guests from JSDD.
“Thank you for all your hard work,” said one of the dinner guests. “You are a blessing for the young adults and their families.”
In addition to all the excitement at LifeTown, Friendship Circle volunteers visited senior centers in the area, bringing Sukkot festivities to senior citizens who were unable to travel.
Friendship Circle was blessed to celebrate Sukkot with so many children, teens, and adults from the community, making the holiday extra special and memorable.
