He Scores on the Ice
Congratulations to Sam Izo, 11, who was chosen to ride the Zamboni machine on Dec. 6, during Jewish Heritage Night at the New Jersey Devils game. From his perch atop the Zamboni, Sam was able to ensure the ice was kept clear enabling the Devils to skate their way to a win against the Florida Panthers. Thousands turned out for the Jewish Heritage Night’s festivities, which included a menorah-lighting led by Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, N.J. Devil’s Owner Marjorie Harris and Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum. The blessings were led by Rabbi Mendel Solomon of Chabad at Short Hills and a performance by the Maccabeats rounded out the evening. Friendship Circle was designated as the team’s charity of the night, and the organization’s work was highlighted throughout the evening.
